Weather

Feeling the heatwave we're having here in this area is making me wonder, what will the weather in Vietnam be when I go for Nicholas?????  Even if I had to stay indoors the entire stay in Vietnam (would be a shame), I'm soo ready to go there.  Mind you, I'm afraid to fly, since last year!!!  Give me a 'nut pill' as I call it and let me relax in-flight....Ciao for now.

That's about all of the exciting news I have to blog about.  Oh yeah, my Mom, Step father John and Aunt Liz are returning from their European cruise on the Princess Grand.  Nice, two weeks sailing the seas....ahh...I cannot for Nicholas and I to do the very same thing.  Ah, not too sure about flying to London tho...But anyhow.....Ciao for now.

I haven't been blogging much lately, no surprise there aye? I just don't know what to say lately....I haven't given up, just feel somewhat out of sorts!

I have read the book "The Secret" I recommend it for anyone that can benefit from some positive thinking skills. I know I did!!

And of course, for the life of me, I can't think of ONE quote...ugh. (Lemme go look).

Soggy Sunday!

Hello there. Just thought I'd make some sort of a posting since I haven't done so in a couple of weeks. I can't very well get on my girlfriend Andrea for not posting, if I don't have a somewhat recent one! (pssst. she'll fuss anyway..)

Mom and Aunt Liz returned safely from their Carnival Cruise, thankfully. They both tanned beyond recognition and yes, I know it....it's nooooooooooot very healthy. I myself don't have the patience to sit and cook in the sun anymore. Must be the age, who knows. When I travel on my next cruise (July 09), I plan on finding a nice warm but breezy, shady spot, where I may sip my beverage of the day and just reeeelax! Ahh..

My cousin Denise and I are surprising our cousin Rosemarie, her husband, their 3 kids and her in-laws!! We booked a cabin on their cruise. He He He sneaky suckers, ain't we?!?! It's a short trip, 5 days heading up to Canada. I just love the cruising experience and I can't wait....

Other than that, nothing else to report. No new updates with Vietnam. I really want to bring Nicholas home, as soon as he's meant to be home with me. Some days I say to myself...'are you ready?' and others I'm like...C'mon already!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite saying is: We make plans; and God laughs....

I'm excited about seeing my Lillypie change from 11 months, 4 weeks and 2 days; to ONE YEAR! I'm very excited to make it to this plataue. I wonder, as I do quite often, when will this all end? When will I be saying to the next group of PAPs; oh the wait might be long; but oooh so worth it! I guess, we'll get there when we're meant to get there, right?? Signing off for now...MOMMA

Tomorrow marks a big milestone!

On 4//21/08 I was officially added to the list that will eventually lead me to bring my Nicholas Angelo home!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I'm excited to mark that 'anniversary' tomorrow. I feel like so much has happened; and at the same time, not much! Weird, I know! Welcome to my world.

Well, not much time to post, gotta get the animals (mine and Moms) feed, watered, 'relieved' and all that jazz!!

Cruising PRINCESS style!

Well, my Mom and Aunt Liz are currently aboard their ship, the Emerald Princess, in Port Everglades, FLA...oh they say there's a nice warm breeze on deck. (GRRR) I wish them a safe/joyous/belly-filling cruise. Oh how I wish I was there.....OYE....BUT BUT BUT, I am saving my time at work (and money) for when Nicholas comes home.

On the topic of vacationing; if there are no changes in place by early next year, I guess I will take a trip. I NEED ONE! But we'll what life brings, at that point.

OK, Mommy needs a nap.....already!

Treasure Chest of goodies.

Well, as I mentioned in my last post, I traveled to our place in PA, to rest (ha), shop (yep) and take inventory of all that Nicholas' has been given, since this process has began and photograph those items.......well, I'm 3 for 4. I didn't take any pictures of Nicholas' things. Why? I don't know. But the time I remembered the camera, I realized that I hadn't charged the batteries and I just said..ok, next time! But inventory was taken (to be added at a later date)...

Well, I'm off to bed now, not feeling well at allllll.

I love the thought of my son-to-be, Nicholas.

I can FEEL the Mommy role approaching....

Heading to the country! Pennsylvania that is..

After work tomorrow, 'Grandma' & I am heading to PA for the weekend. It'll be a weekend of eating, sleeping, eating, napping and oooh yeah, going through ALL of Nicholas' things!! I plan on emptying all of the boxes and sorting/catagorizing everything to see what I still need (if anything..lol) I am actually pretty excited about this. I know, before I know it, all of the baby clothes-folding fad will be behind me. But, for now, I'm l-o-v-i-n-g it. I also plan on taking pictures and making a 'log' too. Notice I have a lot of 'plans'? It brings me to a saying I say often: We make plans; and God laughs.

I'll keep ya posted.

Dear Georgeanne,I wanted to let you know that it has been confirmed that JCICS will be hosting a 9-member delegation from Vientam from March 24th through April 2nd. The delegation, led by Vice-Minister of Justice Dinh Trung Tung, will attend the JCICS conference and Institutes, meet with adoptive families and participate in a planned series of meetings with leaders in the U.S. child welfare and government agencies.With a goal of advancing the relationship and understanding between the peoples and governments of the US and Vietnam, this visit will include an exchange of information on the Hague Convention and child protections along with discussions on key elements of and opportunities for an interim agreement.The delegation will arrive in the US on March 23rd and spend a few days in San Francisco before going to Indianapolis, IN for the conference. After the conference, they will fly to Washington DC on March 30th and spend several days there before returning to Vietnam.The goal of JCICS is to provide a social forum where adoptive families can offer their important perspectives, discuss the challenges unique to adoptive families and demonstrate the positive impact of intercountry adoption. The details and schedule of the social forums have not been fully developed but they will occur in Indianapolis IN and Washington DC. Once we receive the date and times we will forward to all adoptive families in case you are interested in attending one of these forums. It will be important for the delegation to hear from you, the adoptive family on how this is impacting each of you.I feel this is a very positive step towards a new agreement being reached. However, I still warn you not to get your hopes up that the delegation will return to Vietnam and sign an agreement with the US. However, this is a very important step towards that goal.As soon as I receive more information on the forums I will pass it along to everyone.

Cyber Shower Gift Exchange..

Well, last night I received my 'cyber-shower' gift from Diana! I love it... It's a book entitled: When You Were Born in Vietman: A Memory Book for Children Adopted from Vietnam!

Thank you Diana, I appreciate it. Nicholas has sooo many books to read and this one looks like a great addition!

Ouchie..

My Mom was hurt pretty bad last night trying to open a new collar for Taco, her fiesty Chihuahua. Unfortunately, the scissors she was using, to release the collar from it's packaging, slipped and went right into the hand. (the meaty part under the thumb)...ugh, so much blood. I felt so bad, because she was in a lot of pain. When her and my Stepfather returned from the Emergency Room, she was in possession of twenty five (25) stitches. Thankfully, she's okay. Just really tired from the stress of it all....On a lighter note: today gave us 6+ inches of beautiful snow and my job (NYPD) let us go a couple of hours earlier...yippeeeeee

I understand there will be a meeting of the minds (Vietnam and the US) some time in March, 2009. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it goes well and we get this MOU, clear as a bell, signed and let's get our babies home already!!

Yet another day of being sick.......will I get back to work tomorrow? Hmm. I'd much rather stay home, even if I am sick. But I guess I should get back to seeing daylight, right? Ugh. I'm still coughing, sneezing, feeling sluggish and now...my large intestine is winning the fight! OUCH.

Ten months ago today, I was put on the waiting list for a little Vietnamese boy, whom I will call Nicholas Angelo!

It seems like yesterday but yet, seems like I have been waiting forever. Perhaps I have.

February 23, 2009 will mark the 12 anniversary since my best friend left us. That friend is my Grandmother. I cannot tell you how much I think of her..let's just say, often! I know that once Nicholas is born, she'll be watching over him for me, seeing that, when the time is right, he comes straight into my arms.

Ok, I must end this now for two reasons; I am getting weepy and I am so sick. Coughing, sneezing, weezing, running nose.......you name it!

I miss you Gram and I love you Nicholas..

By the way, how great to honor my Grandfather, Angelo by giving Nicholas his name!!

To My Best Friend....

CHI Update...

Dear Vietnam families,
Janice Jacobs, the assistant secretary at the Bureau of Consular Affairs is currently in Vietnam meeting with representatives. She was in Ho Chi Minh City today and is expected to travel to Hanoi to meet with officials there to discuss adoptions. Once I receive any further updates regarding any future meetings I will pass along that information as well. I have also been told that there is some discussion of a delegation from Vietnam to come to the US in March or April to meet with officials here and discuss further the signing of the MOU.

To me, this was a good update. Anything in the right direction of getting adoptions, ethically, moving forward, is a good day for me!!

Where has the time gone...

I cannot believe that it's been 14 months since this whole journey to Nicholas began! I remember thinking.......18 month wait for a boy! Are they nuts? I can't wait that long...(forgetting I had been waiting decades alread..) But we live our lives as best we can. Hurdle other obstacles and move on. Always bringing with us the hope and plans of our little ones!

Speaking of little. Have I mentioned I have 'gathered' a LITTLE bit for Nicholas thus far? Depending how a Dr's appointment goes tomorrow, I may head to PA with my Mom for the long weekend. One of my goals will be to take down, record and possible take group photos of all of Nicholas' things I have stored up there! This, I am looking forward to....

Until then, I am going to lay down and feel sorry for myself...wondering what the Doc will say.

Happy Friday all... It seems that I'm sad come Sunday, giggly on Wednesday and grinning on Friday only to have those two days, Saturday and Sunday speed by. How can we get those days to slow down, just a bit???????

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and I'm not sure exactly how I will celebrate it and include Nicholas as well. Perhaps begin a family tradition, but what to do, what to do! Oh, I'll think of something, I hope.

ABC News: Hero Pilot Safely Lands US Airways Jet in Hudson River

I was still at work when a Cold Case Detective came to me for some 'work'...and he had just heard over his portable that a plane had gone down into the Hudson River, near the Intrepid Museum.

Pilot experience and God above landed that craft in the way the text book were written! If I could see the pilots, I'd tell them....after a landing like that, under those conditions....you guys should hang up your wings and just retire. It doesn't get any better than that.

Has it restored my faith in flying.....uh um, uh...I dunno!

Oh did I mention that those people, standing on the planes wings, in 40 degrees waters...
